SS3 Second Term Clothing and Textile Lesson Note and Scheme of Work
Week 1-3: Advanced Sewing Techniques
In the first three weeks of the second term, students will progress to more advanced sewing techniques. Building upon the basics learned in the previous term, they will delve into intricate stitches, buttonholes, and zipper applications. Practical sessions will focus on mastering these advanced skills.
Week 4-6: Clothing Construction and Tailoring
The next set of weeks will concentrate on clothing construction and tailoring. Students will learn the art of pattern fitting, garment assembly, and the principles of tailoring. Practical exercises will involve creating tailored garments, ensuring precision and attention to detail.
Week 7-8: Textile Printing and Dyeing
These weeks will introduce students to the art of textile printing and dyeing. Understanding different printing techniques and exploring the world of colors, students will have hands-on experiences in creating unique fabric designs through various printing and dyeing methods.
Week 9-10: Fashion Illustration and Design Portfolio
In weeks nine and ten, the focus will shift to fashion illustration and building a design portfolio. Students will learn to sketch fashion ideas, create mood boards, and compile a portfolio showcasing their creative concepts. This segment aims to foster students’ artistic expression and design thinking.
Week 11: Revision Week
Similar to the first term, week 11 will serve as a revision week, allowing students to consolidate their knowledge, refine skills, and address any queries before the upcoming examinations.
Week 12: Examination Week
Week 12 will mark the culmination of the second term with examinations assessing both theoretical understanding and practical application of the advanced concepts covered throughout the term.
Week 13: School Dismissal Week
The final week of the second term will be dedicated to reviewing students’ achievements, presenting certificates, and bidding farewell for the term. Students will leave with an enriched skill set in Clothing and Textile, ready to apply their knowledge in the world of fashion and design.
